This website allows your child to pick any of the math standards that we may be covering at any given time in class. It allows them to play math game for free. We also use this website when doing computer activities to help practice a skill. Some of the things on the website include: Number Sense like place value, prime and composite numbers, comparing, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, time, mixed operations, geometry, decimals, fractions.
This will give you an idea of the types of skills that we cover in the 4th grade.

SuccessMaker
Hello,
Your child may have told you about a math program that we use on a daily basis called SuccessMaker. Your child spends about 15-20 minutes daily working on skills that are on their independent level. Each student has a login and password that allows them access. This is something they can access at school and home. If you would like your child's username and password please feel free to write me a note or send me an email.
With SuccessMaker, it gives me reports on how your student is performing with certain skills. Which skills they need more help with and which skill they have mastered. These reports are pulled on a weekly basis.

Socrative
Hello,
I wanted to share with you today a program that we use daily in our classroom! Last year our school wrote a very large grant so that each of our students would have access to their own personal laptops. With this amazing opportunity, I am able to formatively assess students (a quick check, on how they are doing with a certain skill) very quickly using secretive!
The students go to the login page and enter our classroom code: MsElias and I have either a independent quiz, teacher paced or a space race for them to be working on a certain skill or strategy. This allows me to see how the students are doing on questions and who I need to pull for further instruction or re-teaching.
Last year, I was interviewed for Channel 13 about the laptops and how I was using secretive to further my instruction, that video clip is below to help you get a better idea of the program we use in the classroom.
Ask your child about socretive today!

Multiplying with Manipulatives
Hello,
Multiplication is one thing that I hear most parents requesting more information on and how they can help their child at home. Below is a video that will show a different way to think about multiplication than just sitting down and memorize it! This is a strategy that is often used in our math class. As always, if you have any questions feel free to call.
Thank you,
Ms. Elias
